How Many People in the World?

Sometimes even in our busy days at work we can still think of some simple questions and out of our curiosity we still find time to open our computer to look for the answer even before we go to sleep. Internet is what we know to find the answer immediately.

Mostly we are asking about statistics such as like how many people on earth as of this year.

Concerning on the question about the world population it is estimated to have reached 6.802 billion according to the US Census Bureau as of 8th December 2009. The top 3 contributors are China being number one with 1.33 billion, India on second place with 1.20 billion, and United States on the third having with 0.31 billion people.

Our planet and the rest in the solar system show several different lines of evidence that they are about 4.55 billion years old (+-1%) but human being only started to live 2 million years ago. As of today population is nearly reaching up to 7 billion. In reality within this long period of existence of human beings it can still be considered that the rate is very slow. Other factors that affect the population to grow faster were during war times, pandemics, and poor medicines in the past years. Now, it is expected to grow quickly because most of the factors are out of the picture.

Here are the world population milestones:

1 billion - 1804

2 billion - 1927

3 billion - 1960

4 billion - 1974

5 billion - 1987

6 billion - 1999
